Found My QVC Recipes from 1997!

Cleaning out paperwork in the office yesterday and found a magazine holder AND a 3-ring notebook full of recipes printed off in 1997 from the QVC web pages when we thought this board was being shut down!

It is the final wrap up from old timers like Inky Dinky Doo, Fuddles, Snowflake, D'AnnM and so so many other contributors and wonderful ladies!  What a walk down memory lane.  We had been going for years and were posting our favorites so we would have them.  It is a treasure!

Were any of you there then???  Woman HappyHeart  So many happy and generous ladies with kind hearts.  I miss them all.

I only remember someone's famous dish being discussed often.  Berta or Bertie?  And it was either baked beans or potato salad.  I think I read she passed away.

I was around then and remember Inky Dinky Doo's BBQ recipe.  I think I even made it once.  I still have a few recipes I printed off from back then.

I think Aunt Bertie's famous receipe was for scalloped potatoes.  I never actually made it but many who did said it was very good.

As I remember those potatoes were simply sliced potatoes with salt and pepper and cream poured over to just cover then baked until browned to your liking.  How bad could that be?  Maybe even add some very thin onion slices?????

No cheese.  Scalloped potatoes.  Au Gratin have cheese.

@Sooner  Wonder if QVC could help you publish a QVC Community Cookbook with those? I believe there would be a ton of interest!

(And, it is very nice to see you posting! Happy Spring!)

@Harpa Publishing books is what I mostly did for a living.  I can even get you an ISBN and decide the paper grade and size and do and place the graphics. I even put together and published a hardback community cookbook!  Woman Embarassed

However, I would have no idea about copyright issues and have no desire to go back to work.

There are hundreds of these recipes.  Most with author's nicknames, and some without.

That is so cool @Sooner. I wasn't participating that far back, but I remember Bertie and someone with wolf in their name. I loved the days when you'd see new recipes every day. One I stll make, because DH loves it, is Chilighetti. Someone found it for me a few years ago. A nice salad, and cheesy bread from Aldi's makes it an ideal meal for him.

@AuntG Yes!!!! Direwolf!  So many neat people women and some men!  The World Wide Web came into play in 1993, so we were off and running not too long thereafter with QVC.  At first it was a different format called Shop Talk, which morphed into or was replaced by the chat boards.

I was one of the first webmasters anywhere in the summer of 1993 and that was a whole new adventure!  I remember my first look a a website at work, was handed a sheet of simple commands and had a web page up that afternoon.  I had used a computer at work since 1983, so I got the job!  Woman Surprised
