I set the pie in a cardboard box with a towel, shipping paper or bubble wrap wrapped around the base of the pie. No disasters yet. And a great way to extend the use of all that Amazon shipping material. 

Over the years I've tried a few different plastic pie carriers from Tupperware and the like but none of them ever seem to be the right size. Never high enough, wide enough, etc. And then of course I feel guilty about adding to the world's plastic burden.
