For @cheriere and anyone really!

IMG_5760.jpeg

Today is a WFH home day so I'm taking a few breaks.  To me, these veggies almost look fake.  My son's friend brought me a bucket of stuff from his garden and I am thrilled to death! I think I had maybe 10 or more pounds of huge tomatoes that he brought me a week or so ago that I froze.  Today, I have homemade pasta sauce simmering on the stove using those tomatoes and the smell is amazing.  I know it's a lot of work, but I understand why folks grow their own.  I wish we had summer year round!

These veggies look GORGEOUS!!!  I'm so jealous that you're making homemade pasta sauce!  You'll have to share the recipe if you don't mind.  Those bell peppers and cucumbers look delicious too!  I'm so glad your sons friend gave you some more.  I remember how much you loved the last you received.😃❤️

This year, I'm having to give away tomatoes to anybody that wants some.  I'm not gonna be able to put up anymore for awhile.  I do have a few plants coming in a bit later on this year though.

@cheriere   I will share after I see how it turns out!  It's simmering away 🍝

@bmorechick , that's wonderful! Homegrown, fresh foods are the best!

Yesterday I was feeling lucky too. I went to my son's place for supper, and his wife sent me home w/ fresh eggs from their chickens, and a bag of limes from their tree. Yay! Heart

Thank you so much.❤️

I hope it turns out great!  I'd love to have a good recipe.
One year I tried to make salsa to put up and it turned out terrible lol.  I don't know where I went wrong, but I ended up emptying the jars.😂

@sabatini  Oh lucky you!  Farm fresh eggs.  I have had them once when a neighbor had chickens.  Until a fox (which we never see) decided the chickens were his/her dinner.

We can't grow citrus around here.  Not warm year round unfortunately.

I love farm fresh eggs too.  How nice it was that you were able to get some and limes too!😃❤️

I love ❤️ limes and use them everyday in my cherry limeade drink.  Unfortunately, we don't grow any here.

There's a few people out here in the country where I live that sell them too.  Before my dad retired, a man who worked with him had a lot of chickens and used to bring him eggs every week.  All we had to supply was the empty egg carton lol.

i@cheriere   Here you go.  I have no idea how big this pot is, so here's a picture of  how much this recipe made.  I added a few things...1/4 cup sugar, two pinches pepperoncini seasoning, those fresh chopped green peppers (3).  It's delicious and will last my family two to three days.   If you make, I hope you like it!

We both made big batches of tomato sauce this weekend.  I have been using Cento San Marzano plum tomatoes for years and freeze serving portions in pint Ziploc bags.  My servings are for pasta for two / dinner.  Miscellaneous uses: pizza sauce, tomato soup, etc.  This weekend's yield was 42 bags.

I posted several items related to this with pictures on Saturday....see "Did Your Mother/ Grandmother can Jellies".

You're right about the heavenly smell: a good Italian restaurant !

Oh, this looks and sounds soooo delicious!!!  I thank you so much for sharing your recipe.  It does help to see how big a pit it makes.  I thank you for considering this as well.  I can tell it's a sauce I'll love!  I'd have added the sugar and peppercorn seasoning too.  Perfection!!!😃❤️
