I just bought a very basic version of the Food Saver which does not have the moist option. Does anyone know if I first wrapped the ground meat in plastic wrap and then sealed it in the bag would that contain the moisture while sealing? I am going to look for the moisture bags but was wondering if this would work in the meantime. If anybody has any experience with this I would appreciate hearing about it.

Thank you jaxs mom. So I can vacuum seal with the moist setting? That is even easier.
Moist will work for some items. We freeze lunches for DH and anything with gravy still made a mess.
Well gravy is beyond what I'd describe as moist lol.

If it were me I would wrap in freezer paper then seal. I wonder if this would work as well?

I'm really loving this machine and wish I would have started using it sooner. Silly me!

Thanks Katey, that's a great idea. I don't have freezer paper in the house but I will give it a try!

You are welcome maybe parchment paper may work too? I do keep freezer paper and parchment paper on hand. While I do have plastic wrap and aluminum foil I have stopped using these as so they don't come in contact with my food. I cover my Meatloaf with parchment paper then put aluminum foil on top.

I do have parchment, I'll give that a whirl . . . thanks again for the tip (and please know I spiralizer envy of your Williams Sonoma purchase, that is a beauty!) . . .

I wrap fish, ground beef, and really moist steaks tightly in plastic wrap before sealing in my foodsaver.

Thank you so much for this cajun3mama, I really appreciate it! Those moisture seal bags are kind of pricey so I think I will try both the plastic wrap and the freezer paper to see if I can get similar results.
