There are food shows each week and they are usually three or more hours with maybe six to nine items per hour.  Each display looks great but folks are having a hard time buying food and are resorting to food banks or cutting back.  I wish QVC would either reduce the amount of food they display for each item or reassure us the food is not wasted.  As they promote feeding America asking for our donations I think the excessive displays are looking a little obnoxious.  And with the hosts poking and eating the food in front of them I doubt the food is saved after the ten minute pitch.

@Gabidog  In the past, David and other hosts have said that studio employees were able to eat the food that hadn't been spoiled under the hot lights. One of the hosts or presenters used to call the studio personnel "seagulls." During Covid, they didn't talk about anyone eating the displayed food items, and the hosts didn't eat either. However, I'm sure there was quite a bit of snacking going on behind the scenes. I would think, now that people are eating on set again, the food is getting passed to the employees. Just a guess.

@Gabidog You can't sell products without samples. Also, most food used in displays is oiled, waxed, sprayed or varnished.  QVC sells huge volumes of food, so very very little is on display.

Proportionally, most of us probably waste more food at home.  You are a kind person to think of it, but I don't think you have to be concerned!  Don't worry!

Mary once commented that shaving cream is sometimes used so it looks like whipped cream but obviously it's not.....

I think the most wasteful thing is how much food the hosts put their hands on. They have to squeeze, tear apart in slow motion, etc.   I understand they are trying to sell the product but they seem to do it in excess.  I doubt that anyone eats any of the food that been touched.

@Gabidog

 I feel the same .  They go overboard , lobster, crab cakes , steaks  all piled on the table .

Why let the employees gorge themselves. How abt a local food kitchen so that children cam have a good meal ?

Ever do the same wondering about all the food in our supermarkets that isn't sold week after week?  Almost all now offfer a fair amount of prepared foods, lots of fresh fruit and veggies as well as pound after pound of fresh meats and dairy.   What happens with all of it?

I highly doubt the employees are GORGING themselves, come on!

Many food kitchens have health regulations....especially since/with Covid.  They can't accept cooked food that has been sitting in a studio!!!

Our City Mission can't accept our cooked leftovers...but they can accept canned/boxed goods that can be prepared IN THEIR kitchen.

Nice thought but not feasible.
