@Group 5 minus 1 I had one but got rid of it. I found that I didn't use it very often, only when my neighbor had an apricot tree with loads of fruit she was trying to get rid of, and I used it occasionally for bananas.
I never tried meat, but for me, it wasn't worth the amount of space it took up when storing.

Ive read online that you can use an air fryer as a dehydrator. Might as well get a multitasker if you dont have an air fryer. All kinds of sizes too depending on what quantity you want. Conventional food dehydrators are large if i remember the Ronco commercial correctly. Again, it depends on your need.

I got one when I had our first child. It was wonderful. I could dry any fruit I wanted and I had a garden so I did some of the odd shaped peppers, sliced carrots, and some onions to use in soups. I did jerky, but you need to boil the marinade the meat is in before putting in the dehydrator. Just a couple of minutes to kill the bacteria. Now a days I grow herbs and dry them and gift them to others after I have what I need. It does take time and I was a stay at home mom, so I had it.

@LizzieInSRQ --funny this subject came up today--my airfryer does have a dehyrater function and was going to try it with green beans--but I need to read the booklet first----I just threw some in last night, set the function and 8 hours came up as the time---I need to read the booklet first---![]()

Considering the price of fresh fruits and vegetables, unless one has a bountiful garden, I think dehydrators are impractical. You have to buy a lot for a little finished product. I'd never have room for such an appliance either.

I got one for a family member some years ago (Popeil).I t was used once to make jerky and then thrown out in like brand new condition. In my opinion, just another gadget to store.

I have a Sedona...essential in my kitchen. I think it depends on your diet....because of our lifestyle a high speed blender, food processor, juicer, and dehydrator are used frequently.

I had one years ago but got rid of it because it was too big for my purposes and I didn't have enough product at any one time for it to be totally useful. My Ninja has a dehydrate function and I use it when I have fresh herbs, veggies, fruit, etc. that might go bad before I can use them up. All prouducts rehydrate as if I just bought them, I don't have any waste, don't have to go out to buy just a little of something because I already have it, and I save money.
