Re: Food Savers, So Many Models, Which Is Best?

The QVC ones come with a hose and lid attachment. If your lid attachment is for "wide mouth" jars, you need to buy wide mouth mason jars. The size of the jar doesn't matter, just the size of the opening. I use all sizes in the wide mouth line.

You put the lid on the jar and then the lid attachment and run the machine to remove the air in the jar. Then you put the ring over it. If your lids are new, you might have to boil them or run them under super hot water to soften them up so they stick.

The book (and I think there's video) shows how it works.

What VaBelle35 said. The jars are really nice for dry goods. I mostly use the bags for stuff I freeze. I use paint pens to mark them.

Thanks for the photos! I wish my pantry looked as good as yours! Do you use the food saver with the jars sealed?

Thanks, yes those are all vacuumed with a food saver They're not sealed until you use it. Everytime you use something, it's as simple as vacuuming it back up. I use mine all the time.
