I am on my second Foodsaver, first one lasted 5-6 years this one is in its 3rd year. I live alone now and love to cook so freeze half I even put soup in a bag, almost freeze it then flatten it and seal it. They take up no room and great to have a stack of homemade soup. And I buy coffee beans in bulk at BJ's and portion and seal and they stay fresh months. I feel its saved me alot of money but best of all I always have good fully cooked homemade food in the freezer.

Don't forget.. in order to save money, be sure and wash the bags (if there is enough left) and re-use them. I only do this, howver, when no raw meat was in it in the first place.

You'll love your new toy!

I do the same thing- wash out the bags and reuse, also I use it for blocks of hard cheese- doesn't get moldy. I will use it to just "heat-seal" chips and bags of pretzels so they stay fresh and not open up to get stale.
Frozen veggie bags, I use the "heat-seal" feature to keep the bags closed and just cut below the line and when done I seal it back up.

Mine is about 10 yrs old and I use it about 5-6 times a week, it's a GREAT investment!!!

I've had two Food Savers, used them very little but neither lasted long. Used them both a year or so then they no longer worked.

I am on my second one (my first lasting 10+ years). I use the jar sealer attachment for storing dry goods in mason jars, and I use the bags to store a lot of items bought at Costco, including bulk cheese, portions of meat, etc.

I also cook sous vide, and I use my FS to seal the pouches for cooking. While I can occasionally find bags and rolls at Costco, I find the Weston brand vacuum seal bags from Amazon to be reasonable priced, and those are the ones I use for sous vide. BTW, if you get Weston, be sure to get the ones that work with FS and not the vacuum chamber.
