Where I'm from we call them lunch cakes lol.  I always know Spring is here when I see these Little Debbie Cakes at the store.

Just wondering if you have ever had a favorite?😃

@cheriere   I was never a liker of these snack cakes, but my son growing up liked the Little Debbie Christmas Tree shaped snack cakes and also the individually wrapped Gingerbread Cookie Men made by Little Debbie.  I remember him asking me to pack them in his lunch for school.   Not sure if he was more in love with the shapes and that they represented Christmas, which he loved,  or the actual taste.  lol

Aw, that's so sweet about your son.💝

Im not an eater of lunch cakes either, but boy are my parents.  If I opened one large cabinet I'd be ashamed to take a pic lol.  It's filled with Oatmeal cream, nutty buddies, fudge rounds, fudge brownies, you name it!

My mom is the one who enjoys the Easter cakes and just like your son, the Christmas trees and Gingerbread men lol.💝

Re: Favorite Lunch / Snack Cake

I have never liked store bought snack cakes and wouldn't eat them as a child and still don't.

My husband on the other hand likes Tastykakes.  His favorite are jelly filled krimpets. Tastykakes used to only be available in PA, but the company was bought out and I have seen them sold as far south as Florida.

Re: Favorite Lunch / Snack Cake

Back in da day, we went home for lunch.   No such thing as cafateria lunch at Catholic schools.

Since my parents worked, we were latch key children.  My father usually left baloney, sardine or tuna sandwiches for us to eat.  Also, a tall glass of chocolate milk for each of us for desert.

@cheriere   TastyKake makes better flavors,IMO. Jelly in a cake would gag me....yuck.

My MIL would make homemade jelly rolls, always with grape jelly. When I delivered my second child, she made a huge whole jelly roll for me and brought it to me in the hospital. C- Section...I was there for a week back then.

I didn't want to hurt her feelings, but couldn't eat it.  My husband and the nurses finished it in no time.

I don't like jelly in a lunch cake either.  My dad just finished a box of red jelly filled chocolate on the outside cakes last night.  Yuck!

Re: Favorite Lunch / Snack Cake

When I was a kid my mom was a bit fanatical about nutrition.  I thought she was too strict, but I thank her now.

She avoided anything that could be considered "empty calories" or anything that had no nutritional value whatsoever.  Cakes fell into that category.

When we got home from school our choices were celery sticks stuffed with cream cheese, egg salad or peanut butter.  Or we'd have an apple or an orange.  That was it.
