I have to be true to my home State's product and say the Hershey Bar with almonds.

How do make Dark Chocolate Orange Peels?

They are easy to make.   Cut an orange into 4 pieces.  Peel the rind off  of each segment in one piece and cut into 1/4 strips.  I use 2-3 oranges.

You can use oranges  that you just juiced too.  Just scrape the rinds out and cut the peel into strips.

Boil the orange peel strips in  water for about 15 minutes.   Then drain them and rinse them well.  If there is any pith left, scrape it off.

Put 3 cups of water and 3 cups of sugar in a medium size saucepan and stir well until sugar is dissolved.  Add orange peel strips and bring to a boil.  Turn back the heat and simmer for 45 minutes.  Drain really well when done. If you are using more than 2-3 oranges, use a slotted spoon to lift out the strips and add more strips in the same sugar water solution to cook.  Make in small batches.

Roll the drained orange strips in granulated sugar and place on foil to dry.  Takes 1 to 2 days to dry well.

You can eat them "as is" or dip them in melted chocolate and place them on wax paper to dry. Do not put wet orange strips into melted chocolate or it will seize and ruin your chocolate.

This is a good way to use peels that you would just throw out anyway.  Already made Candied peels are expensive to buy.

They freeze well for up to about 2 months after they are dry.  MIne never last that long.

I always have them at Christmas time and everyone asks for them if I forget to put them out with my other desserts.

I like bars with nuts and caramel much like Snickers, Payday, Baby Ruth and Oh Henry. Around where I live, I see Snickers primarily and really rarely see the others. I saw them in my youth but now with marketing and brand loyalty + shelf space...

Give me any of them but I love them from the fridge or freezer.

I never heard of the 7up bar.  Was that a regional candy bar?  I remember the Sky bar, it had 4 or 5 different types of fillings in each little segment.

It did not sound familiar to me as well so I googled it and I remember them now after seeing the below photo but I never tried one.  Good excuse to try all candy at least once because it just might disappear on us.Woman Wink
