I'm sure there are plenty of them allover but I've learned to ask the following:
Is this grown at your farm? Is this local? Do you sell at other markets around the area? Do you make this in your own kitchen? Where is your farm? Is this your family business?
There are people set up at these markets that actually buy every single fruit and vegetable from wholesalers. Products are not local, it's no different than walking into a large chain and buying it from them. I've also noticed a lot of canned fruits and vegetables, I'm sure if the seal is intact, it's fine but I'd rather process my own.
Yes, I do ask a lot of questions and don't take it for granted that it's all locally grown.
Does anyone else ask questions too or do you assume that if they are selling at a farmer's market, they do grow it themselves?
