I was talking with Vitamix Cust Svc today. One of my questions was how to remove the film that forms on the blender jar. He suggested: 1. a few oz of vinegar in water; 2. making a paste of dish detergent (I use Dawn) and baking soda and putting that around the inside of the jar, letting it "soak in" for awhile, then washing it normally (dab of Dawn and water); and, I had asked best way to clean container after chopping meat since didn't feel comfortable with just the normal soap and water routine. He told me a little bleach and water or just get spray bleach and spray the inside - which will also remove the film.
Then I questioned making ice cream. His advice was to run it just 30 to 60sec, telling me they have an automatic one that shuts off after 55sec. More importantly, he stressed do not tamper too much - no longer than the 1st 15sec, stressing that this would make a big difference on the result.
