I can't help it!  I LOVE fried chicken but hardly ever have it.  I especially love Popeye's Spicy fried chicken!  Any other Popepye's lovers out there?

Please feel free to respond with positive or negative views, rants about grease or whatever!

Yours in salt, fat and sugar,

I miss my Mother's fried chicken. She cooked it in a cast iron skillet. Yum

I've never been to Popeyes.  One recently opened in my hometown.  When I visit my mother next month we'll try it out.

Re: FRIED CHICKEN!

[ Edited ]

By the way I'll tell you a little known secret to frying chicken.

I don't eat it like I used to because Dr. said cut back on butter, lard, etc

because of high cholersterol.

Anyway, before the sermon LOL I would add 2 tablespoons of butter to the Crisco in the cast iron skillet or whatever type of skillet your using. That's what gives the chicken the gold color. Takes about at least 30-45 min to fry chicken right.

We never have fried chicken at home but every now and then we’ll go to Zaxby’s or Charlie’s. @VenturaHighway No one fixes fried chicken in a cast iron skillet like mom.

I LOVE fried chicken too!   One of my favorite meals is fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and peas.   That is comfort food at its best for me.

In this town we have KFC, Bojangles, and the deli at Kroger and Wal-Mart for fried chicken.   Every few months I need my KFC fix, but prefer to make fried chicken in my own kitchen, just so I can make the gravy to go with it.   I fry in oil and butter.

Popeyes spicy is good. I haven't had it in a few years. Even our grocery stores have good fried chicken. To me it seems less greasy and salty than KFC.

Sharke thank you for telling me I can get mild chicken from Popeyes. One just opened about 6 blocks from my house but heard it's spicey and I don't do that. My husband would love the spice. I got to try it out. I like KFC but Popeyes is different.
