These seem to be a regional specialty in Duplin County, NC. Restaurants along NC 41, cook em up. The patties made out of equal amounts of hamburger meat, flour, and onion cooked up and served on white bread.
This goes back to the Great Depression when a little meat had to go a long ways. The burgers are also known as "dough burgers", "slug burgers", or "breaded burgers".
I've never had one, but known where Duplin County is and may have to make a road trip to try them out!!!!
