Re: Emeril Air Fryer Arrived

@MKR14  Re piglet, no it's not mine.  I live in Center City Philadelphia in a one bedroom highrise.  They won't let me keep a piglet.  They finally allowed cats about 8 years ago, so now I have had a lovely cat for the last 6 years.  When I set up my profile, they had a bunch of little pictures one could choose from so I got the piglet.  Reminded me of when I worked on my aunt's farm in Germany, there were three little piglets for which their mummy didn't have enough nipples (she had over 20), and I was allowed to bottle feed them.  They followed me around everywhere.  At night they went back to their mom and siblings for sleep and comfort.

Re: Emeril Air Fryer Arrived

@CLEM Memories are wonderful. It is so funny how even a smell brings back being in our Mom's kitchen.

I have my Air Fryer all cleaned and ready to put on 20 minutes to get the smell out of it. Then hubby and I will go to the store to get our food to cook in it. He is happy I bought it also. I wil post what I did after we use it tomorrow.

Re: Emeril Air Fryer Arrived

@Ruthie-Roo I just followed our advice and went snooping through YT to find a method for cooking a pork loin (a few months ago they had those huge like two foot pork loins on sale which I bought and cut up into five pieces.  I vacuum sealed them up and mistakenly took one out thinking it was chicken and yes I have learned my lesson about labeling) but the thought of a heavy pork meal in this weather just wasn't doing it for me so off to YT I went . . . shazaam, I can't wait to try this for my weekend meals tomorrow! . . . Smiley Happy

@momtochloe  Sounds like you have some tasty adventures ahead of you -- or in front of you now.  :-)  Labeling error?  Eh.  We're all human, subject to booboos on occasion.  Gotta love YT!  Have fun.

HELP!

Is there a trick  to pushing down the food basket release button?

I just unpacked the air frier and pulled out the food basket holder.  When pushing down the release button, it did not budge.  Just can't push it down.  Should be easy I think.  Tried several times, but no luck.

The food sliding the food basket holder in and out, it worked very well, just can't push the button down.  Does anybody have any ideas????

Oh no @CLEM I don't have an easy answer for this as it has never happened to me!  Now me being the stubborn person I am would immediately bring out a hammer and maybe screwdriver to dislodge said basket but maybe a quick call to CS would be a better idea?

How does the air fryer compare to a convection oven? They seem to operate the same way. I bought one of those KitchenAid countertop ovens that has the convection feature, so I was hesitant to get an air fryer, thinking that it would just duplicate the oven.

@Mayfayre I have a countertop Breville Convection oven but the results for things like frying chicken or maybe frozen french fries, etc. does not compare.  These little air fryers are great for "frying" all sorts of things as the frying mechanism is much more intense than a toaster oven.  They are also great at bringing leftovers to life.
It depends on what your family's needs are.  For me, as I am alone I love my air fryer but I think you need to consider your daily or family's needs before pulling the trigger.

Re: Emeril Air Fryer Arrived

@CLEM Did you take the entire holder and basket out together? I know it may push down really hard the first time but mine was easy. Maybe it needs someone strong to push down hard on it to loosen up for you. I sure hope it's not defective after waiting for it. Let us know if you get it. Maybe the basket got pushed down too far in it when it shipped.

I got mine all washed and ran it for 20 minutes at 400 degrees to burn the residue off it.

We put on our porch to keep the smell out of the house. We got our food to cook in the air fryer so we are all set.

Re: Emeril Air Fryer Arrived

@momtochloe  I am afraid using a hammer never occurred to me.  You are so funny.  But I did call CS and was told to return it.

The outside carton did look like it had been returned before.  I could see the way it was taped up and where they usually put the envelope with the label and order #, etc, the envelope was clearly ripped up and I only received a xerox copy of invoice and lables.

[ Edited ]

@MayfayreI have a convection stove/convection oven and a microwave/convection oven also. To be honest I hardly ever use it. So the air fryer is more practical for me as it is small and dies the same thing in a short amount of time. It comes down to personal preference. Hope that helps. I hate to heat up a big unit for a small amount to cook.
