Electric range recommendations please!

I am in the market for a new electric slide-in range and would so much appreciate it if anyone who has purchased one recently is happy with their selection and would recommend it. My present range is 35 years old so much has changed since the last time I was in the market for a new range. Do all new electric ranges have the smooth cooktop? If so, is it an improvement over the coil type of the past and easy to keep clean? I am also considering convection and wonder if this would be a good choice. Thanks for your help.
