Electric Grill--Masterbuilt vs George Forman-Advice, please

I am looking seriously at these 2 grills. Can any of you give advice as to which is the best one to purchase?  Of course, I have read reviews.  Never know how to take some of them.  Masterbuilt does have an actual grll surface while Forman has a ceramic grill plate.  Will just use for 2 people and don't like the Sears propane grill we have.

Thanks for your imput.

Re: Electric Grill--Masterbuilt vs George Forman-Advice, please

@kjae I have had two of the Masterbuilt grills and love it!

I cook for one and I love the ease of cooking and the flavor of the food.  The grill grate is easy to clean and I line the slide out drawer of the drip tray with foil for easy disposal.

I put it together by myself in about 20-25 minutes and QVC sent a great little video to assist with the assembly too.

I really don't have any experience with George Foreman grills so hopefully someone can speak to that version but I am very happy with the Masterbuilt enough to buy a second one when I wore the first one out . . . Smiley Happy

@kjae, I have the George Foreman grill.  While it cooks correctly & we have no problems with it, it simply does not have that "grilled" taste.  We cannot have charcoal/gas grills where we live.  I am intrigued with the possibility of the Masterbuilt grill delivering a more grilled taste?  I would love to hear from those who have both & can post the differences between the two.

We've had our George Foreman grill for over a year now, and love it. It doesn't give that strong charcoal grilled flavor, but it does a great job. We thought long and hard before ordering it over the Masterbuilt, and I'm sure the Masterbuilt is a very nice grill. The warranty (3 years, for George  vs 90 days for the Masterbuilt), and the fact we could bring it inside to grill in bad weather is what made us decide to go with George. We do have a charcoal grill for summer use, but here in MN outdoor grilling has a very limited window....so we get more use out of this in the late fall through early spring period.

I don't know if this helps but I love the flavor of the Masterbuilt as it really crisps up the skin on chicken and you get a great sear on burgers and steaks.

I had my first one for almost six years and only bought a new one because of the upgrade to the ceramic coating on the grill plate for easier cleaning but my original one was still performing great when I gave it away.

I think both grills have their merits, I hope you are happy with the one that works best for you!  Smiley Happy

My current one is a few years old and I don't think the item number exists anymore but I did check the current one and it is very close if not an exact match to what I have now.  Like I said, I have had one of these Masterbuilt grills for a very long time and they perform beautifully and I couldn't recommend them more!

eta:  I did find the old item number for the grill (K41863) and the reviews are very similar to what is available with this model.

Re: Electric Grill--Masterbuilt vs George Forman-Advice, please

I have no experience with Masterbuilt grills, but I do with GF ones. I've had GF grills with removable plates, and ones with stationary plates, in various sizes and models for years. I currently own a huge one that has the traditional non-stick grill plates, which are removable, as well as a model that has 5 different removable plates (including the waffle ones) and a temperature dial. Plus, a GF panini grill rounds out the bunch (the top moves all the way back, opening flat). The cleaning of any of my GF grills hasn't really been a problem for me, as I've hand washed and used a non-abrasive brush and a dish cloth. Once the non-removable plates are cooled for a little while, I take a well-squeezed out wet, soapy dish towel and set it inside the closed grill for a bit. This acts much like soaking. Then I just gently scrub them, and wipe dry.

The cooking with them has been great. I used my 2 regular GF grills on Easter, when my family had brunch. The grill plates are wonderful for bacon, etc. The shallow dish is great for eggs, pancakes (albeit, small ones), and so on. The waffle plates produce two huge waffles of standard thickness. I've had success with so many other things as well: chicken breasts, hamburgers, veggies, waffled "creations", etc. I have not used the newer Evolve grill that has ceramic grilling plates. I've read that some people have issues with the ceramic plates, but I can't speak on that, either way.

By the way, no, I don't work for the company that makes GF products, nor am I being compensated for talking about them. I just have enjoyed and had good luck using them. :-) On Easter, a couple of people may have been inspired to get a GF grill, due to how well they worked for our meal. The thrift stores seem to have them frequently, different kinds and sizes, so, you needn't spend too much to try them out, or get another one.
