I get the double yolks from Trader Joe's Jumbo eggs too. And yes, they are graded. Also get the double yolks from other brands jumbo eggs. Must have something to do with the jumbo size. We are always happy to get them.

My family used to raise laying hens. Very young chickens often lay eggs with 2 yolks. It is very common.

There used to be a farm stand that not only had produce and old-fashioned candy, but they sold double yoke eggs by the dozen. I like the yokes for sunny side up eggs, but unfortunately the stand - whose owners were quite elderly - closed down last year. They had good home-made candy apples too!

A 'quitter' is a fertilized egg with an embryo that stopped growing.

Double yolks in eggs are safe. This occurs when released too soon into hen's oviduct.
