I thought the government said there's not supposed to be any price gouging.  Why are things like egg prices suddenly going through the roof?  I think those stores should be reported.

I have not seen eggs any higher than usual.  We buy Eggland Best and usually $3.29/dozen.  Now lately hard to find this brand.

Store brand I bought Publix and I believe they were $2.97 but were limited to 1.

Normally here our eggs go on sale prior to Easter. The egg prices in SW PA have really risen and there are shortages in many stores.  Honestly, I think there is some price gouging going on as prices have more than doubled.   Even those who have chickens have now priced their eggs at market value.

I just purchased eggs yesterday.  For regular large they were $2.99 a dozen.  These were just regular eggs, not cage free, etc.  In fact at another store, the (as I call them) "special eggs" were less expensive then the regular eggs.

So I checked a very small store that serves the Amish & Mennonite community here. Medium eggs $2.39 and Large $3.29. Their eggs are sourced locally. No Egglands, etc.

Asked some coworkers who have chickens and they are getting $2 a dozen fresh from the girls 😘

two weeks ago I got large eggs in SWPa on sale for $1.  Organic and cage free eggs $3.50-$6 a dozen. Didn’t see a shortage two weeks ago but it may have changed since.  I buy regular eggs.  Mostly for recipes.

I live in the midwest/urban area and they hover around a $1. a dozen. I always keep about 3 dozen on hand because I love eggs and bake a lot. At the first of the lock down Wal-Mart 's shelves were empty , but I found them at Aldi's and Kroger's.

Usually prices go down before Easter. Why are egg farmers not able to keep the supply coming?

According to The Washington Post, Stress baking, hoarding and people cooking at home has caused eggs to be in short supply.
