This thing rocks! I received mine a few weeks ago, and have been making hard boiled eggs, soft boiled eggs, and poached. They come out just perfect. Next I'm going to try an omelette. The cooker is small and fits on my counter and to me the quality is just fine for what I use it for. Plus, no pans to wash which is a plus in my book!

It comes with a pin correct? I notice the Chefs Choice and Cuisinart doesn't. The reviews state exploding eggs in the cooker I guess because you don't pierce the egg. Thanks for the review fashionista17.

My Chef's Choice egg cooker does not come with a pin. Never had an egg explode. I've had a couple what were apprently cracked and some of the white bubbled out and cooked. Rare, tho.

LOVE it!

I don't know what egg cooker you have but I found an egg cooker that ordered from an infomercial several years ago. It got pushed to the back of the cabinet and I rediscovered it a month ago. I love. I get perfect boiled eggs in a just a few minutes. It's a little thing, I know. Boiling eggs isn't rocket science. It's just a little convenience that makes my mornings easier.

I think I have every egg cooking device known to man. From Henrietta to that Eggsact Eggtimer egg that you add to your pot of boiling water to let you know when its perfectly cooked, soft boiled, medium, or hard boiled or anywhere in-between.

i have ones for use in the microwave, others to use in pots of boiling water, and still many others that you plug into electric sockets like Henrietta , Cuisinart, or Cooks Essentials units.

Depending on how many eggs your making at one time to which ones work best. My favorites, as I only do two eggs at a time most of the time, would be:

in the microwave:

Nordic Ware microwave egg boiler, which makes perfect soft or hard boiled eggs up to 4 at a time.

There are a few others by progressive and a few other companies that hold 2-4 eggs at a time and are pretty good for poached eggs in the microwave.

The Stone wave cooker with the little chimney works well for poaching in the microwave also, but only holds one egg at a time.

on the cook-top:

My favorite for Poached eggs are the silicone pods that you float in about 3/4 inch of boiling water in a covered pot. Perfectly poached eggs in 4 1/2 minutes.

For larger amounts of boiled eggs use the eggsact eggtimer in boiling water.

I have individual egg poachers, specialty pots and none do as well as those silicone pods.

Henrietta and similar egg cookers,(steamers) are all similar but I like Henrietta the best just because of the sensation she creates when used with guests.

Why I even bought eggies a couple years back, but feel they are more trouble than they're worth.

I ordered a Rosle egg topper a couple weeks ago, but its still on back order. I am looking forward to its arrival for soft boiled eggs. In the meantime I'll continue to make poached eggs in those silicone pods.

Enjoy!

A number of years ago, we picked up 'egg poaching' sacks in Italy. Used them all the time until we started traveling with the egg cooker. The 'sacks' are individual, cone shaped. They feel like parchment. One egg to each. Break egg into pouch, stand up in simmering water. We even used the microwave in hotels to bring the water to a boil, dropped in the pouch and cooked. Worked great.

DDIL uses the smallest cone shaped coffee filters and sprays inside with olive oil spray and poaches away. They also come out perfect.

I just happen to like the egg cooker, though as I can make hard cooked eggs when on the go.

I can cook eggs very well without an "appliance".........when I first moved away from home, it was the only food I could afford -- at a quarter a dozen..................

I love appliances and gadgets almost as much as I love eggs. Especially soft boiled or poached, not that I'd turn away from fried eggs over medium or scrambled eggs or a good omelet.

However, I hate finding any shell in my soft-boiled eggs, which is why I've been eating more poached eggs lately. Finally received an e-mail today that my back-ordered Rosle egg topper has finally shipped. I'm so looking forward to its arrival, although I must admit that I've been getting better at using a knife to open those soft-boiled egg shells. Will let you guys know how well it works when it arrives.

Enjoy!

I bought the Henrietta from HSN also. It worked great the first time, but died (RIP) after only about five uses. Very cute though.

The hard boiled eggs were so easy to peel that I replaced it right away with a Cuisinart. Love it! Makes deviled eggs so easy to do.

I have TWO Chef's Choice egg cookers and love them. I keep one at work. Where have these been all my life?

My husband hard loves deviled eggs, and with the cooker he has then frequently.

Although I have only 1 I have had it since 2008 and it still works as flawlessly as it did when new for soft, hard, and poached eggs. If I had it to do again easy choice.. another Chefs Choice.

Well, today was the big day! My Rosle egg topper arrived today and of course I just had to try it out.

Long story short, It's fantastic. I made 3 soft-boiled eggs in my Nordic ware egg boiler in the microwave. Then placed the egg topper over each one, lifted the plunger type handle and released it. All three eggs had their tops come right off with ease...no pieces of broken shell, anywhere! It was all but instantaneous.

I simply scooped out my soft boiled eggs and added them to a bowl with some bread, added some fresh ground black pepper and some pink Himalayan sea salt and I was happy as a ...

I was a little apprehensive when I first opened the package, felt the price plus the shipping costs were a bit high, but it was the only game in town and it was on back order.

After using it on the first three, of what I'm sure will be many eggs, I can simply say its worth its weight in gold. Much better than those scissor type egg toppers.

For those that enjoy soft-boiled eggs don't be afraid of purchasing this fantastic tool!

Enjoy!

We got a Henrietta the Hen just the other day from amazon. I just started the Atkins Diet so I'll be giving her some use.
