I want to get a 7 qt dutch oven. The cast iron ones would be too heavy for me. Any recommendations would be appreciated. TIA

Look at a thick cast aluminum!

The ones I used were NESCO brand. The lasted for years and worked great!! I also had a Sunbeam which worked well. Holiday dinners I had two of them going .

I have these in Farberware stainless steel. I have had them for years and like them very much.  I have a 3qt, 4qt, 6qt and 8qt.

LeCreuset ceramic dutch ovens are excellent.

Every once in a while my husband will come in and say he saw a cast iron whatever at the church thrift shop or Goodwill for cheap.

Don't be bringing it home to me.  We will be 70 this year, who is going to lift this cast iron thing you saw and wanted but knew better than to bring it home.

@Mom in NY  I'm sorry I can't speak to an alternative, but did you consider getting a smaller cast iron Dutch oven? I went down to a 6 Qt. when my larger Dutch oven was too heavy. I find it doesn't limit me on what I can prepare, and I can lift it into and out of the oven. It made all the difference. I just find it indispensable.

I have Revere Ware from the 1970's with copper bottoms.

I use a crockpot more than a Dutch oven.

Me too, @ECBG .  I think mine is from the 1980s, still going strong.  And now that I'm older I can still lift it with no problems.
