I saw they are changing the name to just Dunkin.  I have no idea why this would make any difference.

Less emphasis on donuts and more on coffee sales is what they said.

They say they are changing their menu and want people to know they offer more than just donuts and coffee.

Won't matter to me; it's my favorite coffee chain and I'll still be going there.  "A rose by any other name, would smell as sweet".

I saw something that said their coffee drinks are around 70% of their business. it looks to me like they are trying to market themselves as Starbucks' biggest competition.

@MariotaMurielleName doesn't matter, but the coffee does. I think DD has been more coffee than donuts for a few decades and that's certainly the only thing I use them for.

I know millions love Starbucks but their coffee is my last resort for the little bit I drink out of the house.  Ahead of them for me is Dunkin, 7-11.and the local Greek dinners in that order.

My husband makes better tasting coffee than Dunkin or Starbucks IMO. I think Dunkin Donuts is not any where as good as they used to be, more expensive and quality not as good. Maybe half the name will make up for half as good as they used to be.LOL

People I work with are convinced that it is another marketing thing like the IHOB stupidity was. We are having a new one built near us, so we'll see what sign they put up. It would seem silly to install an old sign if they are truly changing the name in January and supposedly, other locations have already switched, so the signage is available.

Focus now on coffee and other food items.  There are fewer and fewer donuts in my local DD stores and I don't see many people buying donuts at all.  Breakfast sandwiches and coffee drinks are the big sellers I'm sure.  I don't think it's ploy.  I think it's here to stay because of America's move away from eating sweets.

Just in case anyone hasn't heard this already, on Saturday, DD will have a buy one, get one free promotion for hot coffee in honor of National Coffee Day...
