Dump Cakes

I have never had one before so I am unsure of the texture it should be. I made an apple one last week and it was very soft like an apple crisp. Of course we gilded the lilly by using a little coconut, nuts and caramel. Are they dry like a regular cake or moist? Thanks, TG
