Sammijo ~ i love your method of keeping the dining table set to discourage DH from taking over! If i thought that would work around here, i'd do it too! Unfortunately, i know Mr. Sue'sCat would just pile his stuff on top of the tableware! I finally resorted to putting a couple of clear acrylic bins on "his side" of the table and plop all his mail, meds, eyeglasses, etc. in them! At least that contains it somewhat! I mean.. we eat at that table every night!

What a great thread! I'm so enjoying the responses. I'm afraid mine is quite sedate. I have plain white dinnerware, so I dress up the table instead. My current favorite is a burlap runner, bandanas for napkins and simple flowers. I'll dress it up a little for Thanksgiving, but not much. I've become a minimalist lately.

house_cat ~ wow! A giraffe, kokopelli, and what looks like barnyard cannisters complete w/ cow milk pitcher??? Please correct me if i'm wrong! And is that an old photo on the shelf? I know! I'm nosey! lol Your place looks calm and serene, and you collect what you love. And i like your silverware pattern. It looks like the one i grew up with. ~ take care![]()

I have this pattern and lots of completer pieces as well, all picked up at thrift stores. I have it displayed in my china cabinet all year long, but have never actually served a meal on them. Guess I need to change that.
mominohio, mine are in our china cabinet all year, but we have used them on holidays for many years. take yours out of the cabinet this Thanksgiving and enjoy these beautiful dishes.

I live in a small town on the coast so we are always informal as far as what we wear but I use my Mom's Spode blue Fleur de Lis dishes and her silverware. Pleasant memories for all of my family.
