Re: Do You Use Matching Glassware On Your Table?

Nope! If we have company or it's a holiday and we are setting the table nicely, then we use matching glasses. On a regular day, everyone has their drink receptacle of choice, LOL!

Re: Do You Use Matching Glassware On Your Table?

Enjoyed reading your responses. I have matching glasswear and stemwear but use less and less. I gave my china to a young family getting started when my young adult children didn't want the set. I've streamlined to fiesta stoneware - 4 sets of 4 colors and 1 color my grandson asked to be just his color - turquoise. I mix and match colors.

I enjoy mixing colors or styles in general. Previously, I had a table with 6 different chair styles. Each family member claimed their favorite chair.

At dinner I have a glass of wine, DH has tea or a beer.

When I set the table, I use clear matching glasses that are big enough for ice cubes for tea.

@ECBG   I used to have crystal stemware...inherited, not purchased. I used it for dinner, even when it was just the two of us. Then when I sold my "good" china, the stemware went, too. I checked w/ all kids involved and no one wanted it...they just don't entertain formally...don't think many people do.

Now, I use my set of every day glasses. The water glass  is on a stem, too as well as the wine glasses...just plain old $5 each glassware, but yes it matches.

@Shanus

This is the glass I use because stemware can't hold enough ice and tea when we have family.  I love these glasses, and I have my instant breakfast in one in the morning.  They're 20 oz.  They just can't touch in the dishwasher, but then many dishware that touches in the washer chips.  They will crack.

I found them maybe 6 years ago at Bed Bath and Beyond.  Now amazon has them too.  The brand is Luigi Bormioli Michaelangelo.  There is quite a number of glassware and barware by this company.

Sure do.  Unless there's more than 4.  They only came 4 to a box.  Now Tea, That's a Whole Nuther story.

I always use matching glasses for meals. We drink Iced tea at dinner and these are plenty big. I need to use this type of glass because my right hand is deformed from lupus and I can't grasp a glass. I can slip my fingers around the stem. I also have smaller ones for juice.

@ECBG  They are a discontinued Bormioli pattern - Bahia. I like them so much I hunted down some extras on ebay so now I have a stash. They're quite good quality.

What table?! We're in our 70s and we seldom even eat at the same time! DH never seems to be hungry when I am, so I make something and we eat when we're ready, and it's never at a table. Neither one of us has a beverage with our meals, except for me with chili - then milk is a must!

@Ladybug724  The brand is Bormioli Rocco pattern Bahia

I bought my first ones at a little kitchen store and liked them so much I ordered more sets from Neiman Marcus of all places (they weren't that expensive). This was about 8 or 9 years ago. They were discontinued shortly afterwards. I was still able to pick up a couple more sets from ebay.

There are some used available on ebay now at sky high prices. Maybe I should try to sell some of my extras. LOL.

@froggy

That's an attractive glass.  I understand your need but result is attractive for all.

I am not that classy on daily meals.  We use Tervis tumbler practically daily now.  No sweating or need for coasters when we move around.  We either grab a color or favorite pattern.

Just today was thinking how happy I am to have tumbler with lid and straw so I can drink when laid up in bed.
