We started married life with Oneida Paul Revere and white Corning Ware dishes! Compared to flatware today, the Paul Revere looks so small! But I still love it--the simplicity of it and the weight and feel of the really old pieces!
I thought it might be fun to hear what others had for their first sets!

I think it was free. lol with Blue Chip,Stamps. I can't remember the pattern. I know it was about 1968, and it was ultra modern lol

@Sooner First set of flateware was called "Avis". It has been discontinued. There are still some pieces available on Replacements LTD. though. It is stainless.
The pattern has a bird and flowers on every piece. Loved, loved, loved it then and still love it now. I like birds and flowers and pretty things to make me happy everyday.
We're talking circa 1976-ish.

Sure I remember it. I still use it as my everyday flatware,
It is Oneida Satinique. I have been using it for almost 52 years.

My mom and my aunt were identical twins. They didn't talk to each other about their wedding gift for us. So we got two complete sets of almost the same pattern!
I used my parents' gift as our everyday set and I still do. I use my aunt and uncle's gift for special occasions.
Both are classic, with plain lines. My aunt's choice was a tad more tavern looking. I love both! ![]()

I don5 remember 2hat we used the first few years but I remember buying a set at Dillard's maybe 8-10 years in. Then I bought another set about 10 years ago, which is what I use now.

I think it was called Early KMart. 😉
Since then, I bought a service for 12 of Oneida Astragal silverplate just after Oneida closed their plant in NY. Early 2000's? Bought all the serving pieces too and I've used them all.
I would love to get real sterling flatware for special days as the Oneida is showing it's age.

Our first flatware pattern? It was Whatever-Mom-Picks-Up-At-The-Goodwill. It still is. ![]()

Whatever the bank gave out to my grandma. 🤣🤣. She gave all of us silverware sets at high school graduation. I had the same flatware for 40 years. I replaced it with beautiful flatware that I got from my employer, I don't know the name. It's beautiful though.
I also, have never had a China pattern either. I'm using my 1980's Corelle dishes in Lace Bouquet. (Still love the pattern).

Yes. The pattern is Vidland, Oneida flatware. I still have it and use it everyday. Let's say it is about 55 years old. My mother got all her friends and my aunts to send in a little coupon from women's magazines where you could get a place setting for a couple of bucks. A fond memory of days gone by.
