Do You Like Pepino?

[ Edited ]

I just bought a pepino.  Haven't eaten it yet.  Do you like them, and how would you describe it?

Also - if you have any idea how to use it besides raw eating, that would be appreciated.

Interesting.  Yes, I think it must be a melon.  It's the size of a large plum tomato, but a light yellow, with dark striations on the skin.

It was hanging out in the kiwi/star fruit/pomegranate area of the produce section.

I thought I'd try it for grins.  I guess I'll "Pepino" straight up.

I like them.. they have a clean cucumber after taste IMO.  I have eaten them straight up and in fruit salad.

This is what I found when I googled Pepino.  I had never heard of it.  I like cucumber and honeydew so maybe I'd like pepino too.  Not sure???

The pepino was wonderful in my chopped green salad.  I cubed it. and let it marinate a few hours in the dressed salad (as I usually do).

It's not a strong flavor but it added a nice flowery essence.  And I dislike honeydew.

I think it might be good in a salsa, or as a side with a light fish.  I think I'll buy it again.  Nice to add new sources of nutrition that make for a different flavor.🍈
