We don't keep snack foods.  I don't need empty calories, or the fat and salt. Although, I like some of the items in checks mix, and other things like "cheese its".

I do have cheese and some saltines.

DS dropped by the other day and couldn't believe I didn't have snack items!  I made him a sandwich!

lol!

Yes I keep the small bags of Doritos & chips you buy at the register check out for my pig out day which is Saturday. I try to eat healthier during the week & have one day to eat whatever I want.  A nutritionist in a class I took told me she has clients who take one day or some the weekend to eat what they want.

So funny!  When I want the good snacks, I do go home to my parents'.  LOL

I try to follow a strict rule--- don't put it in the cart!!

However, I am in the office a few days a week.  It's nice to have little snack size things like you mentioned-- cheez-its, chips, pretzels, trail mix to keep in my desk.

I usually take healthy choices with me to the office in terms of fresh food-- oatmeal, hummus, cut veggies and fruit. So I limit myself to ONE of those snacks per day.

Sure, things like popcorn and chips. A few candy bars for my DH since he likes chocolate more than I do.

Re: Do You Keep Snack Foods?

We do like to keep some snack foods but we only indulge in a small amount on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.  We like to have something like popcorn, chips, or maybe pretzels while we watch a movie.

We don't eat any snack foods during the week and we also make sure that we do not eat anything after 6:00 PM.  We have dinner and then nothing until the next morning when we have breakfast.

That seems to work so well for us.  I was a little hesitant when we first decided to fast in the evening but after maintaining that for over five years I don't miss a nighttime snack at all.  My husband and I have both lost weight and neither of us feel hungry at night.

Depends on what you call a 'snack'. There's the good and the bad. But for me it's a little of both but mostly good snacks. Life is too short and ya gotta break the rules sometimes. Gimme my Cheez-Its!

Re: Do You Keep Snack Foods?

@ECBG How funny!  I am eating wheat chex as I sit here.  No milk, just wheat chex.  Snacks here are popcorn, microwave with no oil, fruit, plain yogurt, or nuts.  Once in awhile we have a cookie--Pepperidge farm or those Costco Christmas ones.

Homamade milk and banana "ice cream" is a treat too.  We often have boiled eggs in the fridge. Yogurt and milk and bran cereal are a common snack too, and iced milk latte from the Nespresso.

I keep small bags of Cheez-its, chips & Reeses white creme peanut butter cups...when I want a little treat it's there, I'm satisfied so no craving & overeating later.

Re: Do You Keep Snack Foods?

My husband has a few hot cheetos every day, luckily I am not tempted at all...too hot for me.  I do buy snack foods for my grandkids that are over almost daily.  For snacks I usually like non fat yogurt but I do indulge in the naughty snacks at times.

Re: Do You Keep Snack Foods?

Yes, we always have frozen snacks....ice cream, popsicles, I freeze baked goods like banana bread, cookies, brownies and cake.

I usually have chips, pretzels, popcorn, crackers and cheese.  Also, several types of nuts.

I always have fresh fruit, mostly red grapes, apples, oranges, & cherries, plus apple sauce.

Fresh veggies such as carrots, celery, green beans cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, cherry tomatoes and dip...hummus.

Hard boiled eggs are a staple

I have candy too and sometimes homemade rice pudding.

I keep my pantry, freezer and refrigerator stocked.

It's just the two of us, but my children and their kids are here pretty often.
