I've just recently discovered how much better the coffee tastes, when you grind it yourself.

I love Tim Hortons but wow, from a bean to the cup makes it fruity and delicious!  I used to use their processed grind and it was tasty, but this is so much better.

The only problem is the dog barking when I start the grinder.  He hates the vacuum, too.

@Sweetbay magnolia  I only purchase beans and always grind them myself.   I have said for years,  that the coffee grinder is one of the most used appliances in my house!!!

I send away for all kinds of beans, and love to experiment,  sometimes combining some of them and making my own blend.

What kind of grinder did you purchase.

Can you put the dog in another area of the house when you grind your beans?  Maybe grind enough for two days so you don't have to do it every time you want coffee.

I have a Bodum (it's not the fine grinder, just a single blade) - that will be an upgrade.  It's a cute appliance though, and suits me well right now.

Yes, I see that I can grind some "extra" and seal it away in a lock n lock.  Not hard at all and so much better!  Fun to play with.  

@nyc1 your response is appreciated.. The dog is getting used to it and, he's getting older, so his energy is diminishing.

Wow!  I had no idea how much better coffee should be.

I like a medium roast.  Don't like bitter, don't like dark.  i use a single cup Frigidaire brewer for me, a Kalorik brew-through for DH.  Good grief.  I think we're at the stopping point.

And how many mugs do we own?  I know for me, it's too many.

I don't have a dog, but still don't use my grinder.  Pre-ground coffee is okay for me, as I'm not an aficionado.

Yes! We grind coffee beans every morning for our coffee. Have been doing it for decades. We like flavored beans more than just plain beans. Just a little splash of half and half, no sugar and I am a happy camper.

ETA- We use a Capresso burr grinder for the beans.

Have a cuisinart. It  will grind beans or use pods. When in a hurry pop in a pod. Otherwise grind my favorite Kona coffee.

i went down the rabbit hole when i needed a coffee grinder for cold brew

i had whole beans ground at place of purchase or bought pre ground

i found Gale from Seattle Coffee Gear - saw a lot of their youtube videos

settled on a beginner conical burr grinder

at the time with coupon - just about 100.00 

i just google my grinder - just in case you are interested

i dont grind everyday - i do a small container - sometimes it is cold brew and sometimes it is pourover - i dont own drip - french press etc

my first coffee maker was the keurig that was LOUD with no bells or whistiles

i got rid of it although it still worked

I've been grinding beans for my morning mug of coffee for years. I used to like Folgers beans until I couldn't find them anymore. Now I use 8 o'clock beans. I use pre-ground coffee when we go on vacation. It's okay, but I can't wait to get back for the real deal!
