I love mine. For me, it's worth it for making toasted cheese sandwiches or panninis. No grease whatsoever and the bread is so tasty and crunchy. I also like mine for french fries - both frozen and fresh. Another thing I really like is fried chicken. Way better than in the oven. I would get one with a ceramic basket though. They only had wired ones when I got mine.

My "real" oven takes 15 minutes to heat up. Then 20 minutes to cook tater tots or whatever. Air Fryer takes 8 to 10 minutes. Just the savings in electricity is enough for me, not to mention how quick I can get a meal on the table.

I had seen the demos on QVC, etc. and then saw one in person at BB and B and I thought it looked huge and it was something I would never buy or want. I broke down and ordered the Power Fryer XL when it was a TSV. I only cook for myself and I use it at least 4 times a week or more. Tonight is salmon which I have done before and it is quick and excellent and no mess and doesn't heat-up the kitchen. I don't eat the appetizers they demo, but I have baked a potato (better than heating up large oven for one!), grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken, pork loin, steak, burger, small meat loaf, etc. I am very happy with mine.

I should have also stated that I have never cooked with any oil in it.

I just purchased a Phillips Air Fryer about two weeks ago and have been trying to use it every day to see ifI like it and it was worth it before the 30 days are up.
The chicken wings, I cooked in were cut into sections. I could only fit 12 sections in it at a time. When they were almost done cooking, I threw 6 cheese sticks in there in top of the wings. The wings were crispy as were the cheese sticks. It cooked them very well in about 25 minutes. Since i don't have the rack, I had to make two batches. So that was 50 minutes instead of my usual 60. If I had the rack, it would have been faster. I wish mine came with the rack.
i cooked sausage that was already precooked when I bought it. Directions say to warm them on the grill or boil in water. Took 10 minutes and turned out okay.
Cooked French fries ( homemade and not frozen). They turned out good and I didn't have to stink up my whole house with the smell of oil.
All in all I would say that no one needs one, but if you cook frozen foods that usually need to go into an oven or vat of oil, this will save you time and calories. If you don't eat these types of foods often, the air fryer will collect dust on your basement shelf. I would not buy one to just toast sandwiches.

If you have a convection oven, you would not need an air fryer. I use my Cooks Essentials air fryer quite a bit. Fish, chicken patties, onion rings and tator tots all cook up fast and taste better than when baked in the oven. No oil is needed so the kitchen stays cleaner.

No. Nobody NEEDS one. But if you want one, go for it!

@Dogaholic do you need one? . . . the simple answer is no but I believe you would enjoy one if you purchased one. I have a small one I purchased from Evine when they first came out and I just love it. You can make so many different things so quickly and clean up is a breeze and as I cook for just me it is a cost savings.
