I have a recipe that calls for a 9 1/2 x 6 x 2-inch dish.  Was wondering what capacity that would be so I could substitute dishes.  I'm planning on halving the recipe, so I need a capacity to start with.  Thanks

Re: Dish Capacity

[ Edited ]

Was just going to ask the same question!  Sweet potato casserole calls for a 3 qt. dish...none of my casserole dishes are labeled in qts.-just inches!  Just took a wild guess!!  Ugh-the stress of the holidays!!  Thanks for the website nightowlz....

Fill it with water and then pour that water into a large measuring cup.

Yeah, but I was hoping not to have to drag all my dishes out to get to it which requires getting out the step ladder.

I was playing around with this. The volume of a standard 9x13" pan is 124 cubic inches. Yours is 114 cubic inches. If you were making the whole recipe, a regular 9x13 pan would be too small, but if you're halving it, it should be fine! Smiley Happy

I know this isn't helpful, but that's a weird size dish.

Thanks, I ended up using one of Tara's 1.5L dishes (which is about 1.5 Qt).  Looks to be about right.  It wasn't critical; it was a jello dish.
