Dill seed. What to do with it..........

I have one volunteer dill plant in my garden this year. I have cut the leaves and dried them but there are so many seeds on the plant. I have saved some of them but really don't know what to do with them. Do any of you make anything with dill seed? What type of foods would you use it in?

Thanks

Just sprinkle it on? I have some turkey. I could try that. Thanks.

Yes, with lettuce and miracle whip. I buy it just for that purpose. I've seen crab salad recipes with it in. Go to the Penzey's spice site and search for it, there may be ideas there.

I add it into slow simmering meat sauces and other sauces.

Also great in meat loafs, meat balls, any meat dish.

Wonderful in long simmering stews.

Sprinkle into seafood dishes while cooking.

Great tasting on fish dishes.

Delicious on all egg dishes.

Can sprinkle as a garnish.

Add to home made bread recipes.

Great in various salads including macaroni, egg, cole slaw, and potato salads.

I use it as much as I use my fresh and dried dill weed spices.

The dried dill seeds are more concentrated and have more flavor.

I had some leftover chicken salad so I tried the seeds on that. It was good. I agree that the seeds have much more flavor than the leaves.

Potato salad, over buttered noodles or potatoes, pasta salad, added to yeast dough for rolls and breads, eggs, omelets, frittatas, creamed chicken recipes, rice pilaf, add to carrots or peas, add to beef stew or pot roast, add to coleslaw. Lots of ways to use dill seed!

I always use dill weed in egg salad and my chicken salad so, why not the seed? I have a neighbor who is from Poland and I always smell it in her cooking. She makes soup with beef bones and potatoes and it smells delicious.

I make a really good dip with them. Lots of folks use dill weed to make this dip, but I like the flavor from the dill seed. (It also makes a prettier dip, IMO)

8oz Sour Cream

8oz Mayo (just dump the sour cream and fill the container with mayo to measure)

1/2 of a Med onion, minced finely.

2 tbls of Dill Seed

Mix well and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.

It makes a great dip for veggies, chips, crackers, etc. A favorite here is to dip chunks of pumpernickel bread.

It's also really good on baked potatoes instead of sour cream.
