You did not make a mistake. I absolutely love steak burgers.

Good purchase IMO. You will get a lot of meals out of all that beef. Enjoy it.

I always use 93% lean ground beef. In addition to burgers, I use it for meatloaf, chili, and any other recipe that calls for ground beef. An added bonus is that you don't have to drain the fat in these dishes because it's practically non-existent. Enjoy!

We just went to Omaha Steaks today and bought one of their value specials with steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, pork chops, and chicken breasts all at one price.
I like their products because they are vacuum sealed, and technically can last months to years in the freezer.
If you can seal everything well to store in the freezer long-term, you will have many menu options!
P.S. Beef prices are increasing!

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I was concerned when I saw all that ground beef because I thought it would be too lean for burgers. All the suggestions here have eased my mind.
I've been very cognizant of grocery prices since retiring recently. I'm careful about budgeting and we almost never go out to eat, so this was a significant purchase. It's been about 24 hours since I handed the cashier my debit card and I think my heart rate is finally back to normal, lol.
I did vacuum seal the filets and divided the ground meat into two one pound packages.

I use the 80/20 percent for hamburgers and use the 93% for meatloaf, chili, spaghetti, etc. To me the 93% is too dry to get a good juicy burger.

I've bought whole beef tenderloins before, but butchered them myself. Yay for youtube tutorials!
Maybe you could take the plunge the next time they go on sale? ![]()
FYI, I made tacos w/ the scraps, & they were amazing!

Wow. the label says beef tenderloin which is normally about $40.00 per pound. The ground meat would make for, excellent dishes that you normally use ground beef for.
Edited for clarification : this is a fantastic buy. Tenderloin steaks melt in your mouth, and the ground Tenderloin will make excellent recipes.
Enjoy

Try the ground beef as Salisbury steak or burgers. It is so much better than regular ground beef! Careful...It will spoil you and that is all you will want! Been there, done that!
