Re: Delivery Time for New Range

"Just in time" manufacturing is becoming more common as expenses go up for manufacturers. Rather than make a gazillion things once and then store them until needed, they're making things on demand.

Manufacturers spend a fair amount upfront in the purchase of parts and raw materials. They want to get a return on that investment as quickly as possible, so holding something in a warehouse for weeks, months, or a year or more is costing them money. If they can wait until the last possible minute to make and deliver the product then their profit increases. The less time something is warehoused the better it is for them.

When you order a new appliance (especially on the higher-end side of things) odds are it hasn't even been built yet. When the manufacturer gets the order they then have to order the parts necessary and wait until they arrive to assemble the new appliance. It can take a while but it helps to control costs.

Re: Delivery Time for New Range

Thanks so much for the information in your responses.  I do have an invoice indicating purchase from an appliance store that has been in business at the same address for 97 years.  I will be patient until my new range is available.  I decided I deserve a new range every 30 years.

I hope the new oven is built as well as your original, @deepwaterdotter.  Thirty years is impressive.

@tansy  That's why I opted for another Jenn-Air.

@deepwaterdotter My Bosch dual fuel range is 20 years old and going strong.  Appliance delivery (I'm in Canada) can take awhile.  When I thought my fridge was acting up, I ordered a new one rather than wait for it to die.  Delivery was five weeks.  Nobody carries inventory anymore as @gardenman indicated above.

Enjoy your new range!
