Re: Da Bronx Bagels

[ Edited ]

@nyc1  That's it.  Your thread has convinced me that I need a few days in NYC.  The plans are in the works now. Shooting for early October (hopefully will be able to tap a source to get a Yankees or Mets playoff game ticket).  Even if I do not get to a baseball game, I plan to have a Da Bronx bagel and go to Brooklyn for a slice of Junior's cheesecake. Relaxed

Don't forget a trip up to Zabar's (UWS)  or to Russ and Daughters (LES).   What an experience!  My sister lives on the UWS so we are always at Zabar's (go upstairs as well) and then at Patsy's pizza....  OMG ... LOVE!   Can't wait for the end of Sept when we'll be back.  Keep me posted!

I have ordered other bagels from QVC in the past. They were supposed to be shipped "overnight" but were shipped UPS ground. They arrived at the UPS hub on a Friday but not in time for delivery that day. I didn't get them until Monday. I felt I was paying too much for 3-4 day old bagels. If they could have been shipped earlier in the week, to avoid the Sat/Sun non- delivery days, I would have gotten fresher bagels.

@Tribesters - this is from their own website:  "Please check our new improved shipping rates. We ship 2nd day guaranteed (some East Coast states are eligible for ground shipping). Our bagels are all natural."

I had a shipment of these a few months ago that were delayed several days by UPS and by the time I got them, the blueberry bagels were already starting to mold.  (No preservatives!)  I contacted QVC and got a refund, but I also contacted UPS to ask what the heck was going on.

They'd had them at my local depot, said they were out for delivery, never arrived.

I checked later and it said "due to severe weather or emergency conditions" they had returned them to the depot.  Neither of those things were true and, in fact, the UPS vans were out in my area that day.

I figure the driver just decided he was running late.  It said they'd be delivered the next day.  NOPE!  They kept them at the depot for a total of 3 days after they'd received them and delivered late in the day, when they finally got here.  (The depot is about 15 miles from my home.)

When I told the UPS lady that I'd have to get a refund, she said "Oh, yes.  That's best."  For whom???  QVC?  The vendor?  When it was UPS's fault?

Right now I'm waiting for a shipment of these very bagels (A/D) and it's still showing nothing other than "Label created".

I have noticed that Just Bagels is now doing free shipping, when you order from them directly and you can choose the bagels you want.  May be the way to go in the future.

@Venezia Keep checking your order status. My A/D said "label created"  every day since last Friday, then I checked again this morning and the status was "out for delivery". I received them this afternoon. So they created the shipping label and charged my account last Friday but did not ship until yesterday.

So I opened the box and all were ok, but they sent 2 of the " everything " bagels along with the poppy and sesame. There should have been one pack of plain and one of the everything variety. This is the second time they have messed this up. I did call customer service and they are arranging to get me the pack of plain. If this wasn't such a good deal I would cancel. These are sold in my local store for $6 a pack of 6 and they don't always have them. My A/D is 29.99 for 4 packs delivered, so it is worth the extra couple of dollars to have them delivered.

@FlyersGirl - If you're getting the same A/D as I am (and I suspect you are), the savory pack does include 12 Everything bagels.

This is the original information; I got one of each on A/D.

M83090 – Savory:  immediate shipment

M83093 -  Sweet:  shipment 02/21

With this combo, you get 24 bagels that are made fresh and bursting with flavor. Kettle-boiled in NYC water, they provide an authentic taste of the Big Apple in every bite.

Choose this Auto-Delivery plan, and you'll get even more of the good stuff, with a new scrumptious shipment approximately every 60 days for one year. How awesome is that?

Whether you crave sweet or savory, there's a choice to satisfy your taste buds. However you slice them, these bagels are chewy, crusty, and downright delicious. From Just Bagels.

  • Each shipment includes 24 4-oz bagels; future shipments arrive approximately every 60 days for one year
  • Net weight 6 lbs
  • Sweet: 12 blueberry, six French toast, and six apple cinnamon
  • Savory: 12 everything, six sesame, and six poppy
  • Contains wheat
  • Ships second day
  • Cannot ship to PR, VI, Guam
  • Please click the About Auto-Delivery tab for more information

@FlyersGirl - The tracking information for mine now says they actually left the NY facility just after 6 PM today.  If they're here by Friday, fine.

Otherwise, with it being a long weekend (and UPS doesn't deliver on the weekend where I am), I won't be expecting much.  Fingers crossed they arrive on Friday.

@Venezia Hi.... mine is not quite the same. It does include one of the plain packs. This is the last one of this A/D.

I am also on the A/D for the shipment you listed, but for the sweet option. That one still has a few shipments left, I think through March of next year.

@Trix  I'm a "NYer in exile".  I'd be damned careful in NYC.  In fact with what's going on there today, I wouldn't go anywhere near it.  The streets and the subways can be very dangerous to your life.  Read the news and give it a 2nd thought.

@FlyersGirl - In that case, I bet they're mixing it up with the new A/D assortment!  Nothing would surprise me.

Not the first time posters have mentioned not getting the right varieties.  I hope you get your replacement pack soon.
