Re: DEEN Brothers GranIT Cookware

The GranIT is another ceramic-coated pan.  My understanding is the DuraPan is made from QuanTanium technology.  It incorporates a unique mix of titanium particles blended into the coating that stands up to almost anything.

I have the Ming Tsai air fryer (which I do love) which has a ceramic coating.  But, if it's the same coating that is on Ming's pans (which to me are much prettier than Curtis' or the Deen Brothers' either one) I'd skip it.  Almost everything now sticks to my Ming AF basket.  I have started using perforated parchment sheets so I don't have to deal with it.  So far so good on my Curtis Stone pan.  I only have the one pan because I wanted to see if it would stand the test of time.  I just don't trust any of these new nothing sticks to it pans.  They all seem to work great until one day they don't, and then everything sticks to them.

@tsavorite  I have two Curtis Stone skillets that the coating is showing signs of wear.  They are over a year old.  Perfect performnce.  I would definitely buy again.

Most nonstick pans, including the one I got from Curtis Stone, come with  instructions saying you need to pretreat the pan before first use by washing and drying it by hand, then gently  heating it,  then rubbing the interior with oil while it's still warm,  then washing again.before use.

,

After that, you're supposed to retreat the pan with oil every now and then, especially if it is put through a dishwasher.

Those nonstick gadgets aren't  quite as low-maintenance as one might expect from watching TV.  And I've noticed not all pans come with detailed maintenance instructions.  Maybe that's why people have such poor results.

I have one nonstick fry pan (a Green Pan purchased at Costco several years ago) and have always found it a joy to use.  However, last week, I was in a hurry, didn't preheat the pan before adding a little oil or butter and before adding the food.

Instead I immediately put butter and eggs in the cold pan together.

Sure enough, the eggs stuck to the pan, and this had never happened before.  Lesson learned!

I know that before adding any oil and food to a Le Creuset cast iron pot, you have to preheat it, or food will stick.

Re: DEEN Brothers GranIT Cookware

I decided to order the TTV the Deen Brothers have that is the exact same as Curtis STone one I have.  THis way I can check it out and see if it works as well and pass it on to my son as a bonus pan if it works really well.

I would love to get the bigger set but it's just too risky for me....I will be sure to go thur all the basic things for my son on how to use and preserve the finish on any of these non stick pans.

Tee hee @tsavorite I actually had to do a double take this morning as the Deen Brothers pan is the spitting image of CS DuraPan.  I have Paula's XXL air fryer and it has the new non-stick coating and so far so good.  Cleans up like a breeze but then again I don't use the air fryer as much as say a fry pan.
