Curtis Stone Meat Thermometer

I bought these (one for gift) and cannot get them to work.  I did shake it as he shows in the demo.  Anyone else have trouble with these?   Probably have to return them.

I bought one and it doesn't work either, I have to find the paperwork to send back. I tried everything.

Don't these work like those flashlights?  Meaning you shake the dickens out of them to build up power?  Enlist someone with some strength and if that doesn't work, send them back.

@Daysdee So sorry!  One of the best things I ever bought was a Thermoworks ThermoPop instant read thermometer.  It is not too small, not too big, easy to read, works like a champ and pretty!  It isn't cheap but I have had mine for years and it is worth the price.

They have them on the website and they almost certainly will be on sale in the next few weeks.  NOT the ones on Amazon but the real ones from the site.  They have lots of things great for the hard-to-buy-for, including a magnetic sheet that giver safety temps for lots of things,

I use mine all the time.  Best thermometer I ever had and easy to find in the drawer too!  Mine is bright yellow.

I have given them for Christmas gifts too and people love them.

Mine works fine.  @depglass , you do shake them to work, but you really don't have to shake the dickens out of them to work.  Make sure you're shaking it lengthwise.  When I shake mine I can hear something inside of it moving as I shake it.

@Daysdee

Is this the kinetic thermometer. If so I'm in trouble 😆! I just gifted this to my son and DIL.  They raved about C.S. kinetic scale, so I thought this might be a nice gift too. I have the digital thermometer, the one that is magnetized and battery operated;  it's great. Only thing, the magnet isn't strong enough to stick to the oven.  I'm not sure if it's still available. Please let me know if it's the kinetic one, that's a problem. Thanks.

I thought it was just me!   Mine doesn't work either.   The little window (which shows the temp) ALWAYS says 76.5.    Nothing I do will clear it.    When I stick the prong into a piece of meat, yes - it will give me the temperature BUT  I can't decipher what it says because the numbers are behind the 76.5.   I am so disappointed.   I love all my CS cookware and bakeware, but this thermometer is a big fail.

@Ladyrain isn't that the plastic peel-off protector that protects the screen from scratches for shipping?

You can send back with No Paperwork.  Call CService and they will tell you how

Seconding the ThermoWorks endorsement. I started with a basic thermometer, then added timers and the Chef Alarm, which has a higher temp ceiling than my original thermometer. I also gave one to someone who mucked it up by recalibrating it unnecessarily, and ThermoWorks proved to have terrific customer service in handling the replacement.

I believe their flagship product, the Thermapen, is made in England. Not sure where anything else is manufactured.

They will not honor warranties of Thermoworks products bought on Amazon and eBay. I've never had problems buying from them directly.

I adore Curtis Stone, but have noticed that his gizmos and electronics don't fare as well in the ratings as his cookware and implements.
