I have made Cuban black beans a few times and they don't seem to get tender enough. I soaked them a looong time (from 3:00 p.m. overnight) and then cooked them the next day. After 4 hours of cooking, they still were not tender enough, so I am coninuing to cook them and hope they tenderize.
Can someone suggest a solution to this problem? My Cuban girlfriend cooks her beans in a pressure cooker, but I do not have (or want) one. What am I doing wrong?? Hope someone can help! Thanks.
