The wild caught Alaskan salmon (no marinade) is fantastic. Each fillet is individually sealed in 6 oz portions. We grill these, love them. The salmon patties sold at Costco (3.5 to 4 oz each) are very tasty on a lightly grilled bun with thin sliced red onion and piled with arugula. Yum

I also buy the Wild Alaskan Salmon Marinated fillets (wild ). They're individually packaged. They are marinated to my liking. There are only 2 of us and I can easily keep them frozen until we are ready to eat them. We don't eat meat so fish is staple for us.

I had bought natural salmon years ago at Costco and didn't like it, but sounds like I ought to try again. It sounds delicious (especially the way you serve it Sablesong).

I've never thought it was as good after it's been frozen. Although the fresh wild caught may be pre frozen it doesn't taste like it. I only buy it if we are going to eat it that night.

debc, I think you are right, there is NO comparison to fresh salmon. For me though, sometimes convenience outweighs the changes in flavor and texture, and having it in the freezer makes for quick healthy meals. But when Copper River salmon hits the market, we are all about the fresh!

I almost always have a bag of Costco salmon in my freezer. At my Costco they have at least three different price points in their frozen section, all are bags of individual serving sized salmon, vacuum sealed. I'm not sure what the difference is other than price, so I usually buy something in the middle price range. I think I get 8 filets for around $25. I love the idea that they are pre-packaged single servings and I can thaw one or more pieces as need be. I used to bake them according to the package instructions, but the last couple times I used my Rangemate cooker, which did a fabulous job!

Thanks for the positive votes. I am anxious to buy them this weekend and try them. I was weary when I saw them last time, almost had them in the cart, but put them back. Just wasn't sure about frozen. I love fresh. But as another poster mentioned, convenience of a healthy meal is more important, so as long as they taste okay I think this will be a great alternative for me.

When you buy "fresh" salmon in the market, unless you live in Alaska, it has been previously frozen. I bought the frozen un-marinated wild salmon at Costco a few weeks ago and grilled it for company-it was delicious!
