I have just gotten the latest set of Cooks Essentials Cookware.  What a complete failure this set is.   Unfortunately for me I had a friend waiting to take my old set as they know how much I love Cooks Essentials pots and pans.    This new set has metal handles that get HOT.   Not only on the pots but also on the lids. Be very careful,  you will get burned.    I asked when I ordered it if they would and was told no, that CE doesnt have handles that get hot unless used in the oven.     Thats a lie.   Also these dont have the heat plate on the bottom that my last 3 sets have had.   I really, really dislike these pans but have no way to return them as my old set is gone.

Why not return the set to QVC to get your money back...... and immediately get shopping for new cookware that you like.  If you hate it today...........you'll hate it ten times more in a month.

  • @fthunt You are so right. If the Ginny doesn't like it now, it won't be better in a month. Ginny, Go buy a couple of inexpensive pans until you find a new set you like.

Re: Cooks Essentials Cookware

Bummer! I hate to hear that, as I too love CE pots/pans!

I'm still using a SS set that I know I've had for over 15 years and they're still in great condition!

If it were me, I would call CS at QVC, explaining that you were told the wrong info by a CS rep and see if they'll waive the return shipping and exchange them for another set without the metal handles and knobs.

Usually there's a pic of the bottom of the pans on the listings, where you can see if it has the type of bottom you're looking for.

Good luck to you!

Oh, and welcome to the forums @Ginny1!

If QVC says the handles won't get hot and they do get hot, perhaps you got a defective set.

Consider exchanging for a set of pans that QVC said would not get hot.

Re: Cooks Essentials Cookware

Definitely return this set, and don't keep a product you aren't happy with.

If you indeed were told by customer service that the handles do not get hot, and they do get hot, the product is not performing as advertised, and is possibly defective. I would mark my return as such, and tell Q that I wanted all shipping charges (both ways) returned to me.

I would pick up a couple of pieces at TJ Maxx to get you through and think through what you want for the long term.

I used to love CE products, but they have cheapened them to the point of useless, in my opinion. I won't buy that line any longer.

Re: Cooks Essentials Cookware

How can metal handles NOT get hot...metal is a conductor of heat..That is why we use it to cook on/in... And also why many cookware sets have phenolic or silicone covered handles these days...

I don't expect handles to get quite as hot on a stovetop as in an oven, but certainly they DO get hot...that is why they sell silicone handle covers..

Even my  Le Creuset braiser's handles get so hot on the stove that I need potholders...of course as the OP states..I frequently forget!
