Cooks Essentials 4 quart Pressure Cooker

Recently I purchased the Cooks Essentials 4 quart pressure cooker on 12/4.  When it arrived it had a slight dent in the stainless band.  Wonder if I should return.  I am new pressure cooking and thought it would be great for cooking rice fast etc.  Contacted QVC and they said I could return but can't receive new one because they are out of stock or if I keep then I can get $10 credit.  What do you think?  Do not have a pic to show.  It is mostly appearance.

I'm not into pressure cooking, but for what it's worth, I'd definitely return it.  It's not costing QVC anymore 'cause the $10 credit is probably the cost of the return shpg which they'd have to pay anyways since it's defective.  I'd just be afraid to use any electronic cooker that's defective right out of the box.

Re: Cooks Essentials 4 quart Pressure Cooker

I got a 6qt several months ago.   Had not used it until yesterday and discovered it has a sizable dent in the aluminum.   I went ahead and used it anyway and it was fine.   I'll probably try to return it.   It's hard to see those dents due to the way they reflect light.

I know it is a cosmetic thing...but still I am paying $40 for a perfect item.  Then I noticed that in some of the recipes it states press "Chicken" button and this version does not have that.  I guess I could learn how to use it.

If I returned I would not have to pay shipping since it is defective. Alittle apprenhensive using it since it slightly dented.  I have until the end of January to return it.

I would return it, to me not even worth it.

FWIW you may want to think about getting a bigger size anyway once you would have started using the the 4 QT

I wouldn't take a chance that there would be damage

Re: Cooks Essentials 4 quart Pressure Cooker

I had one 4 qt. CE pressure cooker and it totally quit in one year.  I then bought a 4 qt. Nesco at Walmart.  It was the exact thing as the CE only with a different brand name slapped on it.  The pots and lids were even interchangeable.  That one quit in one year.  Weird huh?  Granted, I did use them several times a week.

I did not want another one of these CE/Nesco brands.

I purchased an Instant Pot from the big A store.  I bought the 6 qt. and their are only two of us.  It is not too big.  I LOVE this pressure cooker.  It has a stainless steel pot instead of the nonstick pot.  It does not stick at all.  I thought it would.  It has way more settings including "poultry".  It is a superior product.

The instant Pot also has a 5 qt. size.

I've used it a ton, but I haven't had it a year yet.  We'll see if it lasts longer than the CE/Nesco.

Re: Cooks Essentials 4 quart Pressure Cooker

As long as the lid fits securely , starts counting down, etc. I wouldn't sweat it . Not Q's fault anyway, probably in the shipping . This time of yr. people under pressure, etc.

I emailed David and asked him about the oval 4 qt.'s and he misunderstood me and told me of the round ones that was presented, but, I like the ovals better. Just get mine elsewhere on line that is refurbished. Don't understand people who don't have pressure cookers. Mystery to me.

Thanks for your input.  The damage did not happen in shipping since the box was pristine.  So it was sent that way.
