There is a wonderful web-site called Craftsy: they offer all kinds of classes from knitting and crochet-to soap making, jewelry etc. I've recently discovered they offer all kinds of cooking classes too and these are not the typical cooking classes you would see on television. I'm having a tough time re-learning how to make fresh pasta (I used to make it all the time years ago, but I lived in a different climate all together)....not to worry! They offer a class on Italian pasta making....and I think I'm going to sign up for the "Italian Pan Sauces" series as well.
The classes are not free, but they are not expensive and they frequently run sales. Once you buy a class, it's yours forever. You can post questions and the instructors will answer you. If you are having problems with a particular technique-be it needlework or cooking-there is a easy to use 30 second repeat that you can watch over and over. Check it out-this site may be just what all of our friends who are in the throes of winter need!

Isn't Craftsy fun!! I bought a beginning serger class that I have yet to sit down and use. I think I paid $15 for it when it was on sale. I have a new serger that is calling my name but I need to re learn how to use it. I browse this site alot!!

Wagirl, I have the serger class too! I bought a serger a couple of months ago with the idea that I'm doing all of this weaving: I need to learn to sew! I bought my serger from Nancy's Notions and it came with a "how to" DVD and book, but I really need this class! Oh, they have so many fun classes to take, don't they?

I learned how to sew on an industrial serger when I worked at a garment manufacturer when I was a 18 and that thing flew thru the fabric. But that was 100 years ago so really need a refresher course. I bought the serger with a new sewing machine from HSN last year. I have been sewing for 40 years now and have been teaching my adult daughter to sew. It's been fun!
