Re: Cooking, A Pleasure or A Chore?

If it's a holiday, celebration of some type, or major amount like a giant pot of homemade soup or spaghetti, it's a chore.

If something has a lot of steps, it's a pain; like cutting fresh vegetables to be sauteed.

Putting something in the crock pot, or a dish that just bakes I consider easy.

We do grill a lot.  DH would love gravy every night; yeah, sure!

Re: Cooking, A Pleasure or A Chore?

Ever since I bought my Speedi cooking is a delight!

In fact, I consider it my hobby now. I never enjoyed cooking or baking but that has all changed.

I love my Speedi so much I bought another just in case the first one breaks down for whatever reason. Never thought I would love a countertop appliance as much as I do my Speedi.

A chore. I do not like to cook and I am a terrible cook. Now that I am retired my back hurts when I stand at the sink or counter which makes things even worse. I admit that I am very envious of people who love to cook and are good at it.

CHORE! I hate it. I’ll bake sometimes and enjoy that but DO NOT like to cook. All of my sisters do though. I tell my husband he married the wrong one! Lol

I can understand why you now view cooking as a chore. I too use a cane or walker in the ktchen. I'm wondering, do you hae an Instant Pot. With it you can make delicious meals with VERY LITTLE EFFORT. My experience with the Instant Pot has been fabulous. Great food, easily done.

Definitely chore, after being in this kitchen for 55 years. Only two of us now but too expensive to eat out like our parents did after retirement. I make simple meals as much as possible these days.

I'd rather scrub your toilet than cook you a meal. I have never liked cooking. Wegmans is my chef!

Re: Cooking, A Pleasure or A Chore?

When I look around the world today, what a blessing it is to cook!  To have the equipment, to have the prodouce and the abundance available at our stores, to have sharp knives to so easily prep things!  To be healthy enough to still cook!

How blessed I am to have a nice kitchen to work in, to be able to enjoy the abundance of the USA!  So many don't have anything like what most of us here have available to us.
