Here's 2 videos: 1 from Consumer Reports on youtube & 1 on the Pyrex site explaining the proper way to use it. CR explains that years ago, Pyrex was made from borosilicate & now it's made for soda lime -- whatever. If treated properly the new Pyrex shouldn't shatter. Borosilicate is less prone to shattering & can take a higher cooking temperature. If you are interested in borosilicate glass cookware, LnL now has a new line on their website: www.locknlockplace.com I believe they also sell a couple of really small sizes on the Q. I've been waiting for them to restock a 14 or 16-cup one to try it out & if I like it, I might get their pie dish.
