Thank you NickNack and ladies for your recommendation on this fruitcake.
I just ordered the 12 petite fruitcakes. These will make an extra festive treat at our
Christmas family gathering.

Collin Street is the BEST. My mother lived in TX and would send us one each year at Christmas. She has passed on, but I think of her when I see the catalogs for Collin Street, as they are based in TX.

@Mothertrucker wrote:@chickenbutt, wow that was the one! He loved it so, and his mom and my mom both made pretty good fruitcake, but in his eyes, nothing held a candle to the Corsicana one's.... they came in a tin, as I recall, and when wrapped in cheesecloth and soaked with bourbon...well, they didn't fit too well back in that tin....
Thanks!
If you don't waste booze on the cheesecloth.....they might fit better. Actually I store my fruitcakes in Tupperware......and bring them back out around the 4th of July. Fireworks!!!!!

I am so glad I opened this thread. This is the fruitcake I used to buy back in the 70s and 80s and then for some reason stopped. Now that I know where to get it, I will certainly order it again.
Thanks for posting this.

Hope you like it. I love it. It's the only fruitcake I will eat.

I remember when I first learned about CSB in the 80s. There was a drawing at my work and the prize was a large CSB fruitcake. I never ate fruitcake before that but I had tasted those and was hooked.
I wanted to win that one so bad. Another lady there also wanted it really bad. I never win anything - I swear. I'm such a loser that if I'm in the room with you, YOU will probably lose.
Anyway, I WON! I was so beyond thrilled. I split it with that other lady and we were both happy.
That was when I started ordering them on my own. For many years I ordered several, to be shipped to different people in my life who I knew liked fruitcake. Of course, I always ordered one for me too! ![]()

Hey Sooner! One time, a number of years ago, I found out (down the road) that the one sent to one of my husband's relatives was 'dry' (her words).
What upset me, and I never expressed this to her of course, was that she didn't let us know sooner. Those are not cheap and I'm sure the company would have replaced it. That said, however, I imagine it was just her sense of manners that precluded her from bad-mouthing a gift. But it wasn't like it was the first one. IMO, it would have been productive to let us know that this one was not like the others and I could have done something about it. She's dead now, but she was a lovely lady and one of my husband's few relatives left. She sure did love those CSB fruitcakes - well, except for that one I guess.

My parents had ordered them for years. They always ordered two different kinds, I think. I am not a fruitcake person by any means - but, they said that they were good. I think the last time they ever ordered from there was quite a few years back - that they were not as good as usual. My mom has not ordered them since.

Corsicana is 45 min. from me and I used to always have to stop regardless of time of year and get something in their bakery. I do not care for Fruit Cake but other members of my family will not eat any other than Collins.
Collins finally after decades opened another store with bakery and serving lunch 20 min. from in Lindale Texas just a few years ago and it is doing well. On the Interstate so that helps. The third store they opened about 2 years ago in my town Tyler, Texas just closed up for good. It was not convenient and had no foot traffic, plus they brought in all baked items from the other stores and only their lunches were served "fresh".
You should be really happy with the cake since I have never had a bad doughnut, cookie, or slice of cheesecake.
