Re: Collin Street Bakery Fruitcake

Hope you love it!  It really IS the best fruitcake anywhere.   I have about two large fruitcakes worth of slices that I vacuum sealed and put in the freezer, so I'm set for quite a while.

But I started buying from them in 1989 and purchased every year up until the last couple of years, as the prices went up so much.  If/when I run low I WILL buy from them again because it's the only fruitcake I eat.  Smiley Happy

@chickenbutt  Your comment here recently about it is what made me finally decide to go ahead and order it this year.  I hope it doesn't take long to ship!

Re: Collin Street Bakery Fruitcake

I keep this fruitcake around year round.  I freeze it in slices.  I am lucky that I drive past a couple of them in my travels pretty often.  In the past, I had a standing order at Christmas for myself and several presents that got shipped.  These people know how to do it right!!

My Dad used to rave about the "Corsicana" fruitcake..Is this the same one?

In our family, you wrapped ANY fruitcake in cheesecloth and doused it with bourbon for a couple of weeks before it was deemed " fit for consumption"!!!!

Those fruitcakes are so good! When I was young, it was a family gift from someone every year. I like each of the varieties. They make these cherry cookies that are so good, but I haven't had one in years, since we stopped traveling on I35 with a stop in Waco to go another way quicker south down to see family.

DH loves fruitcake, but he wants a white fruitcake without nuts.  Does anyone know where I might find this?

Re: Collin Street Bakery Fruitcake

@chickenbutt, wow that was the one!  He loved it so, and his mom and my mom both made pretty good fruitcake, but in his eyes, nothing held a candle to the Corsicana one's.... they came in a tin, as I recall, and when wrapped in cheesecloth and soaked with bourbon...well, they didn't fit too well back in that tin....

Thanks!
