I have a KA too. The first one kwapped out while under warranty just after a move. KA replaced it with the identical model and it's going on 7 years old. Daily use, sometimes x2 a day. 

KA has upped their coffee game with their Pro Line if you're interested in grinding your own beans, making expresso/nespresso. 

I'm a simple coffee girl but agree that using bottled water can make a big difference in taste depending on what comes out of your tap.

I agree that Gail is a hoot to watch. Just bought my first grinder Baratza Encore from them.

@Yahooey  I bought that same grinder.  Word of caution, try to grind only what you will need each time.  If the grounds come up to a certain level in the catch-cup the chute will clog.  I learned that lesson fast because unclogging it was a pita.  I had to go to YouTube to watch a demo.  Otherwise it is perfect, no static and messy flying grounds.

ETA:  It was from Gail that I learned all of the ins and outs of espresso machines which led to a smart purchase of a Saeco.  I can't recommend Seattle Coffee Gear enough to learn about whatever coffee-related purchase someone is considering.

I love electric percolators. In the last couple of years, I tried the 8 cup Farberware and the 4 cup Farberware. They broke down within a few months. Then I bought a Hamilton Beach - didn't last long. Then Bed/Bath exchanged it for another Hamilton Beach. It's now around 4 months and still working. Amazing!!!!!

I prefer the 4 cup Farberware - they used to last 5 years.

They need to be made in the USA --- not China.

Doesn't feel like real metal. Very cheaply made.

@kivahI have had similar experiences with electric percolators .When a newly wed I bought a ss one at a yard sale and DH and I were so happy with it . I bet it lasted 15- 20 years making a great cup of coffee for us. Then we were wooed by Mr. Coffee drip -- the new guy in town at the time. DH took the percolator to work and someone walked off with it !

We went through numerous types and a couple years ago I got fed up with so-so brew so waxed poetic about a percolator. I purchased a Farberware , it made good coffee for awhile then started being watery . I checked the warranty and it was just beyond the 1 yr.  

I googled electric percolators and found that the thermostats just were not lasting like they used to. I think this was true of ours. I hate to sound like the old geezer (that I am ) but you kids get off of my lawn -- they just don't make things to last any more for the most part.

My sister did not like the Keurig.....she likes more than one cup of coffee and those cups got a bit expensive and with our hard water it did not last long....

I also got tired of buying Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers, they barely lasted a year even with regular cleanings....This time I bought a Hamilton Beach its the old fashioned kind with a carafe and its lasted a long time even with our city's hard water...............

@kivahI believe the Presto percolators are still made in the USA. I've had a Farberware one for several years but my next will be a Presto.  I believe they had a 6 cup or 12 cup.

When purchasing my 2nd Hamilton Beach percolator, I spent hours on-line reading all the reviews about coffee-makers - including Presto - which gets BAD reviews. The inside part of the percolator is not made of stainless steel anymore - but a cheap product which affects the coffee. 

All made cheaply in China.
