Re: Cleaning locknlock: How can I remove spaghetti sauce stains from lock lock plastic bowl ?

Prevent them from happening, by letting tomato-based dishes cool before decanting them.

I also find scrub daddies good at removing film that can appear as a stain on L&L.

I don't find tomato sauce stains when aI just store in in L&L for a day or two. Any longer and the acidity will stain and can also etch the plastic. DH keeps his coffee in a L& L and it stained years ago....it is now the official coffee container.

I have never had a problem with my locknlock plastic bowls staining from spaghetti sauce.  Albeit, I make my own sauce so it doesn't have a lot of sugar like the commercial brands do.  I generally soak my containers with cold water and lemon juice concentrate and then wash them out with Dawn.  Works like a charm.

I use a glass storage container for spaghetti sauce.  And I do use them more for storage than microwaving.

I had that problem... ONCE.  Never do it again.  Could not get the stain out. Spaghetti sauce did not go away.

I agree with the poster who said a good squirt of Dawn and an overnight soak.  I have had a set of 5 nestable square Lock N Lock containers for about 6 years, and I love them today as much as the first day I got them.  Stored sauce in one once, and when the stain remained I turned the Dawn and hot water on it for a night.  Worked great.

I now use the square glass Lock N Lock with the lid vents to freeze and then microwave sauce.  Works just like

Chris Pryme was at my house!

I think the denture tablet sounds like a great idea!

@Tshirtgal ... that's exactly what I do & it works every time...sometimes I put the L&L in the dishwasher & that works too 😁
