Chocolate Chips, Butterscotch Chips etc

I was melting butterscotch & peanut butter chips today making butterscotch haystacks. I also melted chocolate chips while making some billionaires candy. I don't know what they did to the different chips but they don't melt the same in the microwave as they have in previous years. It took longer to melt. It was a bit of a pain. I had to put more shortening in the chocolate chips to smooth it out. I kept pressing chips against the bowl trying to get it smooth. These companies need to stop changing all their products. Guess I may have to try the double boiler method to see how that works out.
