DD went to Wegmans to get me chicken for chicken n biscuits. I wanted just skin on/bone in chicken breasts.

The only skin on/bone in breasts were organic. Almost $8 for a little over a pound.. I had her get them anyway but why they didn't have any that were not organic beats me.

This was not the first time this has happened.

I usually do boneless/skinless but for chicken n biscuits or soups I use the other, I think it works better.

@CrazyKittyLvr2I surprised that even what's usually an well supplied market didn't have the chicken you wanted.  I wonder if they sell too little of the non-organic to make it worth bringing in big quantities or whether there's some other reason.

No Wegman's around me: womansad:  and I've used only boneless, skinless breasts all summer, but I know as soon as I want chicken in the oven, I like to start with bone-in breasts and add garlic or onion or something green under the skin.  I discard the skin before I serve, but that's a whole other story.

Did she ask for the non-organic version?

@Kachina624   Yes, she did.  She asked first thing before she called me and asked what I wanted her to get.

I too prefer to use bone-in skin-on breasts for soups, stews and casseroles.

I shop at Wegmans for 99% of my grocery but I ONLY use organic chicken.  The taste is so much better.  For us, it is worth the money.

I have purchased regular (non-organic) chicken for years.  But, in recent years I have found quality Is not good, i.e. TOUGH!  I switched to an organic brand and, agree with mememe. It is well worth the extra money! The flavor is good and tender!   Occasionally, I will use regular if cooking and cutting up chicken for a casserole.....avoiding some toughness.

@walker   exactly!

I decided today was a good day to make a vat of homemade chicken broth to stock the freezer.

Since I am using the bones, skin and all I use organic. My MIL stopped by and was surprised at the 'small' chicken breasts were.  I was like ????  then I remembered organic chicken breasts are noticeable smaller than conventional chicken breasts.....its been so long I forgot!
